Hundreds of new rentals have officially opened amidst Doraville’s cornucopia of international cuisine.

City and development officials recently cut the ribbon on infill project Camino at BuHi, a 303-unit residential complex situated where cultural destination Buford Highway meets Jess Norman Way, just inside the Interstate 285 Perimeter.

The 3712 Stewart Road project marks the first in Doraville for Atlanta-based developer RangeWater Real Estate, which broke ground at the 7.5-acre site in September 2023.

Camino stands within walking distance of Doraville’s City Hall and the sprawling new Assembly Atlanta, a TV and film-anchored project with a planned residential component that was pushed back indefinitely two years ago.

RangeWater has agreed to install a new section of the Peachtree Creek Greenway—the subject of a recent feasibility and value study—as part of Camino’s construction. That will serve as the community’s Stewart Road “front door” and help boost trail connectivity to City Hall and Doraville’s MARTA station, according to project officials.

Camino delivered apartments and townhomes ranging from studios to three-bedroom townhomes, with perks that include smart home tech and quartz countertops.

Amenities around the complex include a private speakeasy, dog park and spa, coworking spaces (with a podcast recording studio), a rooftop lounge, and pool courtyard described as “resort-style.”

Incentives include two months of free rent with some apartments. Otherwise, options start at $1,387 monthly for 474-square-foot studios.

The priciest two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is $3,200 monthly for a 15-month lease. That gets 1,467 square feet. (No three-bedroom options are currently available, according to Camino’s website.)

Doraville Mayor Joseph Geierman called Camino a “proud moment” for the city in a Monday announcement, in that it “brings high-quality housing to our city while delivering on the vision of our Comprehensive Plan.”

Elsewhere in ITP Atlanta, RangeWater opened an apartment project with a small retail component called The Vivian along the Beltline’s Southside Trail in 2023. The Doraville project marks the firm’s 26th development in metro Atlanta and the fourth for its new in-house construction company, according to officials.

RangeWater developed Camino in partnership with North American Sekishui House, or NASH. (Find a closer look in the gallery above.)

Just north of Camino, plans continue to inch forward for a $300-million, mixed-use project in Doraville called Lotus Grove that’s also situated along the Buford Drive corridor. It would replace a former Kmart that was shuttered on the 13-acre property more than a decade ago.
